Raising the living standards of the poor, in a sustainable way, can only be possible when rural families are able to get a reasonable price for their produce. Marketing cooperatives are the most ideal institution for the rural poor because they provide financial credit services, support programs and training on ways to re-invest profits back into their farms in order to maintain as well as increase their land and crops, which in turn promotes sustainable livelihoods.
